Biography
Amy Macdonald (born 1987 in Bishopbriggs, Scotland) is a singer-songwriter who achieved international breakthrough in 2007 with her debut album This Is the Life . That album produced major hits such as the title track and Mr Rock & Roll . Her music combines folk, indiepop and rock with narrative, introspective lyrics. Macdonald is known for her distinctive voice and minimalist instrumentation, with which she creates an authentic and timeless atmosphere. After her debut came albums such as A Curious Thing , Life in a Beautiful Light and The Human Demands . Her simplicity, honesty and emotionally charged songs made her popular in Europe, particularly in Germany, Switzerland and Scandinavia. She remains relevant with music that touches the soul with human stories.
