Jimi Hendrix

He left school early to join the military. There he met many people, including renowned musicians such as Billy Cox, with whom he later performed at the legendary Woodstock. He was discharged from the army and began work as a backing guitarist for artists such as BB King and Little Richard. He practised six to eight hours a day.

When he played with his band Jimmy James and the Blue Flames at the locally known Cafe Wah, he was discovered by the bass guitarist of The Animals: Chas Chandler.

Hendrix went with him to England and formed the band "The Jimi Hendrix Experience" there. Although the musicians were assembled quickly, the trio worked like a well-oiled machine.

Noel Redding - Although he played in several bands, he became known solely through The Jimi Hendrix Experience. He was the bass guitarist (and occasional guitarist) for the band.

Mitch Mitchell - Like Redding, Mitchell is primarily known for playing in Jimi's band. Yet in the late 1960s and early 1970s he was an influential drummer.

Jimi was a perfectionist. This led to the end of the band. Noel, the bassist, once had to re-record the same bass line 43 times because it did not meet Hendrix's standards. Combined with the fact that Redding preferred playing guitar rather than bass guitar and therefore formed his own band alongside The Jimi Hendrix Experience, this resulted in Noel Redding leaving the band. One of the most legendary music festivals, no, THE most legendary music festival of all time.

An unprecedented music festival with artists such as Joe Cocker, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Janis Joplin, Santana, Ten Years After, The Who and so on. Jimi Hendrix was there too, only no longer with his band The Jimi Hendrix Experience.

Noel Redding had left the band, but Billy Cox (whom he knew from his military days) replaced him. Although they were still announced as The Jimi Hendrix Experience, the band was now called "Gypsy Suns and Rainbows". This performance is considered his best live performance. Hendrix had one more performance with his Woodstock band, but now as "Band of Gypsys".

Later he toured briefly with his original band, with Redding once again replaced by Cox. The band, which officially has no name, is called "The Cry of Love Band", named after the tour. After that, he built a recording studio called "Electric Lady Studios". In this studio, many renowned artists such as The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, The Who and Green Day recorded songs (especially after Jimi's death). Not long after the studio was completed, Hendrix died in a hotel room in London. In a coma from an overdose of sleeping pills and drinking wine, he choked on his own vomit. The overdose could have been caused by the fact that British sleeping pills are stronger than American ones. An autopsy in any case showed that there was no heroin addiction.
