Sinterklaas

The modern form of the Dutch Sinterklaas celebration probably originates from the picture book Sint Nikolaas and his servant (1850) by teacher Jan Schenkman (1806–1863), but the celebration has a much older origin. In many European countries, St. Nicholas Day is celebrated, though the folklore traditions vary by country and region.
