Biografie
The Kooks is an indie rock band from Brighton, England.
The band is named after the eponymous song by David Bowie on the album Hunky Dory. The four members know each other from Brighton Music College, where they all studied. There they decided to form a band in 2005. It soon became clear that a successful formation had been born, as The Kooks' success grew quickly. The band's music was soon picked up via the internet. The first single from the debut album Inside In/Inside Out, released in January 2006 (more than a million copies sold in the United Kingdom), was Eddie's Gun. This ultimately reached 35th position in the English charts. Sofa Song and You Don't Love Me followed as singles.
Over de muziek
Ook in het buitenland groeide de bekendheid van de band. In Nederland haalde het nummer Naïve, zonder al te veel promotie, maar met veel airplay, de Single Top 100. Het nummer Always where I need to be was in week 15 3FM Megahit. De band speelde in 2006 en 2007 onder meer op Parkpop, Lowlands en Pinkpop. Zondag 6 juli 2008 zullen ze optreden op Rock Werchter.
De opvolger van Inside In/Inside Out is uitgebracht op 14 april 2008 en heet Konk, genoemd naar de studio waar zowel 'Inside In/Inside Out' als 'Konk' zijn opgenomen.
De noteringen zijn van de nederlandse album top 20/50/100.
