Biografie
Turin Brakes is a British band born from a childhood friendship between Olly Knights and Gale Paridjanian. The two met at primary school and began making music together in the late nineties in Balham, London. Their first songs emerged from informal jam sessions and appeared on the EP 'The Door' (1999). Via Anvil Records and later Astralwerks they worked towards their debut album 'The Optimist' (2001), which was released worldwide.
The band built its fanbase with rock and alternative pop-rock songs, where their guitar work became a recognisable trademark. With 'Ether Song' (2003) their reach grew considerably, followed by further albums such as 'Jackinabox' (2005) and 'Dark on Fire' (2007). Over de muziek
Ze begonnen een bandje en tape-ten de songs die ze speelden tijden jamsessies. Een aantal van deze songs brachten ze uit op hun debuut EP 'The Door' in 1999, die alleen in de U.K. gereleased werd. Het label 'Anvil Records' zorgde voor de rest.
Een goed jaar later volgde hun EP 'State of Things', die ook alleen de U.K. aandeed. Pas in Mei 2001 kwam er een wereldwijd gereleasde full-lenght album uit op het label Astralwerks. Dit was nadat ze eerder een derde UK-Only EP hadden gemaakt. Met 'Ether Song' uit 2003 kreeg de band meer bekendheid en daarmee een grotere schare, trouwe fans.
Vorig jaar brachten ze hun succes op grotere hoogtes door het album 'Dark on Fire' waardoor ze meer tot de gevestigde orde behoren.
