Biografie
In 1992, Jimmy Pop Ali (real name: Jimmy Franks) and Daddy Long Legs founded the group Bang Chamber 8. Under this name they recorded one demo, after which they changed the name to The Bloodhound Gang. In 1994 they recorded their first demo under this name, called 'The Original Motion Picture Soundtrack to Hitler's Handicapped Helpers'. Thanks to this demo they received a contract with Cheese Factory Records. In November of that same year their first EP came out, titled Dingleberry Haze. In March 1995 they signed a record deal with Columbia Records. At this label the album Use Your Fingers was recorded. After the release, Daddy Long Legs and M.S.G. left the band. Bassist Evil Jared Hasselhoff and DJ Tard-E-Tard joined as replacements. After this tour, Columbia Records dropped the contract and Tard-E-Tard and Skip O'Pot2Mus left the band.
Over de muziek
In 1996 tekent de band bij Republic Records. DJ Q-Ball, Spanky G en Lüpus Thünder (op respectievelijk de draaitafels, drums en gitaar) komen erbij. Onder deze line up wordt het album One Fierce Beercoaster opgenomen. Hieruit ontstaat de eerste grote hit, genaamd Fire Water Burn.
In 2000 komt het volgende album, Hooray for Boobies met twee andere hitsingles: The bad touch en The ballad of Chasey Lain.
In 2005 komt het meest recente album uit, genaamd Hefty Fine. Hieruit komen twee kleine hits voort, Foxtrot Uniform Charlie Kilo (F.U.C.K) en Uhn Tiss, Uhn Tiss, Uhn Tiss.
The Bloodhound Gang staat wel bekend om zijn humoristische, obscene, offensieve, seksuele teksten en muziek over taboeonderwerpen (bijvoorbeeld incest) en gebruikt metaforen en vergelijkingen, zoals:
"You came twice last year like a Sears catalogue"
"Times New Roman, you know the type"
"You and me baby ain’t nothin’ but mammals / So let’s do it like they do on the Discovery Channel"
"Love, the kind of which you clean up with a mop"
"So put your hands down my pants, and I bet you feel nuts"
Hun bekendste lied is waarschijnlijk "Fire water burn" met het refrein: “The roof/The roof/The roof is on fire/We don’t need no water let the motherfucker burn/Burn motherfucker/Burn”. Gecoverd van Rock Master Scott and the Dynamic Threes hit in 1985 "The roof is on fire". De versie van The Bloodhound Gang werd ook gebruikt in de film Fahrenheit 9/11 in 2004, aangezien het een populair lied was bij de Amerikaanse soldaten die vochten in Irak.
In 2003 verscheen hun dvd One fierce beer run over de gelijknamige tour in 1997. In 2005 verscheen een nieuw album, Hefty fine, dat eerst als titel Heavy Flow had, maar dat geschrapt werd omdat Moby een lied heeft met dezelfde titel.
