Biography
Bon Jovi is an American rock band from New Jersey, formed in 1983 by singer Jon Bon Jovi (real name: John Francis Bongiovi). Jon started playing guitar at age 13 and formed his first band, Raze. At 16, he started Atlantic City Expressway with a classmate, and later John Bon Giovi and the Wild Ones. In 1983, he won a local radio competition for unsigned bands with the song Runaway . The track became popular and Jon formed a proper band with musicians he had met before. This gave birth to Bon Jovi, who grew into one of the world's biggest rock bands in the 1980s and 1990s.
Their international breakthrough came with the album Slippery When Wet (1986), featuring hits like You Give Love a Bad Name , Livin' on a Prayer and Wanted Dead or Alive . With albums such as New Jersey (1988), Keep the Faith (1992) and Crush (2000, with It's My Life ), the band remained relevant for decades. Bon Jovi is known for their stadium rock, powerful choruses and energetic live performances. In 2018, the band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
