Biography
Chris Rea, born in 1951 in Middlesbrough (England), is a British singer-songwriter and guitarist known for his distinctive, raspy voice and bluesy guitar playing. He broke through in 1978 with the song Fool (If You Think It's Over) , which charted highly in multiple countries. In the 1980s and 1990s he established himself as a household name with albums such as Shamrock Diaries , On the Beach and The Road to Hell . In particular The Road to Hell (1989) and Auberge (1991) made him famous worldwide, thanks to their mix of blues, rock and pop. Rea is a versatile musician who can deliver both intimate ballads and solid blues rock. Despite health challenges, he continued his career and toured through Europe for many years. His music is often described as timeless and warm, with lyrics that explore themes such as travel, love, reflection and the search for peace.
