Michael Jackson (alias: The King of Pop) Born as: Michael Joseph Jackson. Michael comes from a family with six brothers and one sister. Both his brothers and his sister became known in the music business. Michael started his career with his brother Jermaine as "The Jackson Brothers". When three more brothers joined in 1966, they became "The Jackson Five". They signed with Motown Records in 1968. With this label, he scored hits such as ABC and I Want You Back. When they switched record labels, they had to change their name. From then on they were called "The Jacksons". In 1984, the group came to an end. But in 1971, Michael Jackson was already told by Motown Records that they saw a solo career for him. Michael scored his first number 1 hit in 1972 right away: "Ben", the title song of a thriller for children. In 1977, he starred in a film, "The Wiz". Here he came into contact with Quincy Jones, with whom he produced his first solo album. This album, called "Off The Wall", became a success. The album, featuring "Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough" among others, put Michael on the map as a solo artist. Approximately 20 million copies were sold. But then there was "Thriller". This legendary album came out in 1982. To this day, it remains the best-selling album of all time, with approximately 104 million copies sold. However, expectations for this album were far less positive. The music industry was at a low point. Michael wanted to surpass "Off The Wall", but the producer, once again Quincy Jones, told him that they should be happy with 4 million. The unprecedented music videos and of course the music helped the music industry get back on track. At Motown's 25th anniversary celebration, Michael Jackson performed. He ended with the number 1 hit "Billie Jean". With this song, he did his now-famous Moonwalk for the first time. Until then, the music video for "Thriller", which lasts about a quarter of an hour, was the most expensive music video ever made. Later this was surpassed by Michael himself with the music video for "Scream", a duet with his sister Janet. The video cost approximately 7 million dollars. In 1986, Michael wrote the song "We Are The World" together with Lionel Richie for the famine in Africa. Artists, including Michael and Lionel themselves, Stevie Wonder, Paul Simon, Tina Turner, Billy Joel, Bruce Springsteen, Cyndi Lauper, Bob Dylan, Ray Charles, and many, many others. They sang the song as "USA for Africa". In 1987, his next album, "Bad", came out. Although this album was also very popular (five number 1 hits, something that had never happened before at that time), it did not match the previous album. With "only" 40 million copies, the album became the second best-selling album. When his next album came out in 1991, he had meanwhile acquired a nickname: "Wacko Jacko". I will not go further into this, just as I will not go into the other negative things for which he made the news, because nothing has been proven. The album "Dangerous" (1991) caused a minor stir, but partly due to Nirvana's album "Nevermind", this album was somewhat pushed into the background. Nevertheless, 26 million copies were sold here as well. This was followed by albums such as the double CD "HIStory" (1995; 36 million copies sold), "Blood on the Dance Floor" (1997; 6 million copies; best-selling remix album), "Invincible" (2001; 12 million copies; barely promoted due to a feud), "Visionary" (2006; compilation album) and "Thriller 25" (2008; for the 25th anniversary of "Thriller").

Appearance

Michael Jackson is perhaps one of the most discussed people ever. And not only for his music. No one can deny that he is an eccentric man. Compare a photo from the past with now, and you could say that Michael has undergone multiple plastic surgery procedures. There was much talk especially about his nose. He himself says he has only had two nose corrections done. This led to much disbelief. The fact that he is now white and was previously black has also caused much commotion. People speculate that he wants to hide his black background. He himself says he suffers from Vitiligo. This is a disease that causes light spots. To hide this disease, he has ensured that he is now completely white.

Family

Michael has had two wives: Lisa Marie Presley (1994 - 1995), the daughter of Elvis Presley. Debbie Rowe (1996 - 1999), a nurse. They had two children: a son: Michael Joseph Jackson Jr., also known as Prince or Prince Michael I. And a daughter: Paris-Michael Katherine Jackson. Later Michael also had a second son: Prince Michael II. When he wanted to show him to everyone by holding him over the railing of a balcony with one hand, he again made headlines. "You don't do that with a baby", was the general thought.
