Biography
The band was formed in the summer of 2002 by lead singer and guitarist Johnny Borrell. The band has Swedish roots, with guitarist Björn Ågren and bassist Carl Dalemo both being Swedish. The band's debut album, Up All Night, was released in 2004. This record became quite successful in England. The same album was re-released in 2005 with the single "Somewhere Else". Razorlight also performed at Live 8 in 2005 on the stage in Hyde Park, London. The band also supported acts including Queen + Paul Rodgers and Oasis. Razorlight frequently played to sold-out venues. On multiple occasions they had to add extra shows to meet the enormous demand.
About the music
In 2006, Razorlight's second album was released. The first single In The Morning became a hit in England and the Netherlands. The second album was also well received by the English press.
On 13 October 2006, Razorlight performed at the Heineken Music Hall during the TMF Awards. The band was also named the most promising act of 2006. In October that year, the band released a new single: America. This became their first number 1 hit in England. It was also a hit in the Netherlands.
Their concert on 6 December 2006 at Paradiso in Amsterdam sold out within 10 minutes. In May 2007, Razorlight played at Pinkpop.
