Zz Top

ZZ Top is an American rock band formed in 1969 in Houston, Texas by Billy Gibbons. The band enjoyed its greatest success in the 1970s and 1980s with hits such as La Grange, Gimme all your Lovin, Sharp Dressed Man and Legs. ZZ Top is recognisable by their unique sound with extensive use of flageolets or harmonics and the "brown tone" that Billy frequently employs. Furthermore, ZZ Top is also known for the looks of the band members. Billy Gibbons and Dusty Hill always wear sunglasses, a trenchcoat and a long beard. Fun facts: In 1984, Billy and Dusty were asked if they would shave their beards for a million dollars per person for a Gillette advert. This did not happen and their response was: "We're too ugly without 'em". Billy Gibbons uses a Mexican peso coin as a plectrum. ZZ Top is one of the few bands that still plays in the same line-up after 40 years.
