Biography
In 1981, the first band of the Van der Lubbe brothers was born, called Tenderfoot. With this band they played mostly English-language covers. The band was soon disbanded, because the brothers preferred to make music in their native language.
They founded the band De Dijk with drummer Daniel Derks. Derks was soon replaced by Christian Muizer. The single Bloedend hart did not chart higher than the tip parade, but their debut album De Dijk put the band on the map. In 1983, two new band members joined for the second album. They were called Pim Kops and Antonie Broek.
About the music
In '85 De Dijk considered calling it quits when "Binnen zonder kloppen" failed to become a commercial hit.
In '87 they returned to the charts with the song "mag het licht uit". That same year, the song "wakker in een vreemde wereld" was awarded the Zilveren harp. In 1990 the song "bloedend hart" was re-released as a live version with 2 wind instruments, played by Dirk Beets and Roland Brunt. The live version and CD become a HIT.
From one success to the next, it was time for a sabbatical. The band took a year off in 1999. Huub then performed mainly as a solo poet. In 2000 the sabbatical was over and De Dijk opened at Pinkpop. It should also be mentioned that Huub, besides being an artist, is also a poet and actor and has appeared in various films including De Aanslag, and he also sang certain songs in A Bug's Life, an animated film.
De Dijk has performed less in recent years and have decided to take things at a slower pace.
