Biografie
Herman Brood was born on 5 November 1946 in Zwolle and became one of the most distinctive figures of Dutch nederpop and Dutch rock. Through his band The Moans and later Cuby and the Blizzards – from which he was expelled due to drug use – he found his way to Herman Brood His Wild Romance. With this band, he scored hits in the late seventies such as 'Saturday Night' and 'Never be clever', through which he also belonged in the indorock sphere. His albums Street (1977) and Shpritz (1978) marked his breakthrough.
The nineties brought collaborations with artists such as Henny Vrienten and Van Dik Hout, with songs that showed Brood's charismatic core was not subject to fashion. Na drie jaar gaat hij naar de band Cuby and the Blizzards.
Als de platenmaatschappij door krijgt dat hij drugs gebruikt wordt hij uit Cuby and the Blizzards getrapt. in 1975 zit hij even bij de band vitesse maar na het debuut album vertrekt hij weer. Als een cafe-eigenaar Herman Brood helpt als hij zijn injectienaald kwijt is, ontstaat er een vriendschap. Van Dijk wordt Broods manager, samen richten ze de band Herman Brood & His Wild Romance op.
Het debuutalbum Street ( 1977 ) doet het goed. 'Saturday Night', een single van het tweede album Shpritz ( 1978 ) wordt een hit. Uiteindelijk komt er een Amerikaanse tournee. De Amerikaanse tournee wordt geen succes en het nieuwe album Go Nutz (1980) doet het niet goed. Reden genoeg voor Herman brood & His Wild Romance om ermee op te houden.

Hij springt in 2001 van het Hilton Hotel.
