Biography
Krezip is a Dutch pop rock band from Tilburg, founded in 1997. The band broke through in 2000 after their performance at Pinkpop, where the single I Would Stay became a major hit and grew into a classic in Dutch pop history. The band, with singer Jacqueline Govaert as its face and primary songwriter, released multiple successful albums in the 2000s, including Nothing Less (2000), Days Like This (2002), What Are You Waiting For (2005) and Plug It In (2007). Their music is characterised by energetic pop rock, strong melodies and emotionally charged lyrics. In 2009, Krezip announced they were breaking up, but in 2019 they made a successful comeback with the single Lost Without You and a series of sold-out concerts at the Ziggo Dome. The band has remained active since and is among the most beloved Dutch pop rock bands of the past decades.
About the music
One of their best-known songs is I Would Stay . The track combines sensitive verses with a powerful chorus that perfectly suits the emotional vocals of Jacqueline Govaert. For singers, this is a song where emotion and vocal control are central. Pianists and guitarists can accompany the chords with ease, which makes it popular with beginning musicians.
In their later work, such as Sweet Goodbyes and Lost Without You , Krezip shows that they can deliver both intimate ballads and solid pop rock.
