Biography
Kensington is a Dutch rock band from Utrecht, founded in 2005. The band grew during the 2010s into one of the largest Dutch bands, playing sold-out shows at Ziggo Dome and touring internationally across Europe. Their breakthrough came with the album Vultures (2012), which contained hits such as Home Again and Streets . Later albums like Rivals (2014) and Control (2016) confirmed their status with songs such as Streets , War and Do I Ever . Kensington are known for their anthems characterised by grand choruses, emotional lyrics and a sound comparable to bands like Kings of Leon and U2. In 2022 the band announced they would temporarily stop performing, but their music remains a staple on radio and at festivals.
About the music
One of their best-known songs is War . The track opens with a recognisable guitar riff that gradually builds tension before sweeping into a powerful chorus that invites you to sing along. For musicians, War is an interesting piece because of its tight rhythm and the balance between restrained verses and an explosive chorus. It's a true live favourite that grew into an anthem even in the Ziggo Dome.
