Biography
Maxïmo Park is a 4-piece indie-Britpop band inspired by the post-punk and new-wave of the 1970s and 80s. They self-released a debut 7" single in 2004, titled 'The Coast Is Always Changing/The Night I Lost My Head', which caught the attention of the label Warp Records.
Despite being a label oriented towards electronic music, Warp Records decided to take this band under their wing and released Maxïmo Park's next single, "Apply Some Pressure," in 2005. This reached the Top 20 in the U.K.
Formed in 2001 in Newcastle Upon Tyne, England
About the music
Their debut album, A Certain Trigger, was released in the winter of that same year, produced by Paul Epworth. Shortly after the album's release, they embarked on a tour that took them through the U.K., USA and Japan, among other places.
Last year they released their second full-length album, Our Earthly Pleasures. With this release, their status in Indie Rock circles was confirmed. This became entirely clear after they performed at festivals such as PinkPop and Lowlands.
